Eames Shell Chairs 75th Anniversary
In 1950, Herman Miller introduced an innovative new chair with a unique shape: a shell. Designed by Charles and Ray Eames—after years of exploring the right materials to support the human form—the chair was the first to be made with fiberglass (or indeed any plastic) technology. A hydraulic press injection-molded the glass-fiber-reinforced polyester resin into its now ubiquitous form. This year, we’re celebrating 75 years of the Eames Shell Chair and its almost infinite design permutations that are tailored to you.
