Herman Miller Eames Wire Chair Wire Base

Select Finish
While refining the design of their molded shell chairs, Charles and Ray Eames began experimenting with bent and welded wire. The resulting Wire Chair (1951) borrows the shell shape but reimagines the form in strands of steel. Each seat features two gauges of the material, a mixture that adds strength but keeps manufacturing costs low. This is an authentic Eames Wire Chair by Herman Miller.

Charles and Ray Eames

Design is for living. That maxim shaped a widespread shift in design during the 1940s
and '50s. It was a revolution of form, an exciting visual language that
signaled a new age and a fresh start – and two of its prime movers were Charles
and Ray Eames. This husband-and-wife team's unique synergy led to a whole new
look in furniture. Lean and modern. Sleek and simple. Beautifully functional.
